SUP Cook Out
New for Autumn 2021
When exploring the region’s best waterways by SUP, you build up quite an appetite. There is nothing quite like stopping to cook your lunch, by the waterside, over an open flame. Our SUP Cook Out combines a great day out on the boards, with an outdoor cooking workshop in the wild. You choose your own menu option from our specially selected local food heroes, then we’ll help you prepare it over the campfire, creating your very own outdoor feast.
We follow ‘Leave No Trace’ principles throughout the tour, ensuring we leave the environment pristine. This is made possible by our innovative outdoor cooking solution from our Canadian partner, Wolf & Grizzly. We will also show you how to observe good food hygiene practices throughout.
Price: £99 per person.
Suitable for: Adults and accompanied children ages 16+.

FAQs
What will I see and do?
We will meet you at the day’s venue - a river or coastal location within one hour of Newcastle upon Tyne. You will need your own transport. The venue will be chosen a couple of days in advance based on the weather, as we like friendly, flat-water for this tour.
The tour begins with a SUP skills refresher, as well as spending some time getting used to packing your board and paddling with cargo. Then we set out on our journey, exploring one of the best waterways or coastlines of north east England. After an hour or so, we will choose a secluded spot to prepare lunch.
Our instructors will guide you in setting up your fire pit, lighting the fire and prepping and cooking your lunch. If it’s raining, we will also show you how to setup a shelter too. We’ll discuss how to maintain good food hygiene when cooking outdoors, and how to cook and clean without contaminating the environment. Then it’s time to eat!
What level of ability is required on a SUP?
You should have been on a SUP a couple of times before, so you are confident getting on your feet and moving the board around. We will be paddling continuously for about an hour at a time on calm water.
You should be comfortable around water and able to swim 25m. You should also be generally fit, healthy and able to undertake moderate exercise without difficulty.
How long does the tour last?
This is a full day experience. We expect to paddle for between 2-3 hours, with a couple of hours spent preparing lunch. There is usually an hour of prep before hitting the water and an hour to de-rig the boards and change at the end too.
